Note:  The Rose, tie and button are crocheted without breaking the yarn until the button is finished.
The center of the flower serves as the button hole.  The button is inserted from the wrong side hole of the Rose by folding it and gently squeezing it through to the right side hole and reshaping it flat afterwards.  See Photo 14.

The Pattern:
How to make the Rose:

Round 1:  Ch7.  Slst on 7th ch from hook to form a ring.  Sc over ring.  *(Dc over ring) 6 times.  Sc over ring.*  Repeat * * 3 times.  Note:  3 petals made.)  See Photo 1.

Round 2:  Ch3. *Skip 3 dc posts.  Working on back of petal, sc over ring between posts:
(insert hook from back of petal and draw a loop to the back of the petal to make the sc).  Ch3, skip next 3 dc-post, sc over ring between posts, inserting hook from back of petal, drawing the loop to the back of the petal and make a sc.*  Repeat * *
until there are a total of 6 ch3-loops.  Slst on the first ch of beginning ch-3. (Note:  these loops are the foundation chain of the next set of petals.

Round 3:  *Sc over next Ch-3 loop.  (Dc over same ch-3 loop) 6 times.  Sc over same ch-3 loop.*  Reapeat * * until total of 6 petals made.  See photo 2.

Round 4:  Ch2.  Working on the wrong side or back of the next petal, skip 3 dc posts and sc over ring and between dc posts.  Note:  This procedure is similar to Round 2  *Ch5, working on the back of next petal, skip 3dc posts and sc over ring and between dc posts.*  Repeat * * until there is a total of 6 ch-5 loops made.  Sls on the first ch of beginning ch5 loops.

Round 5:  *Sc over next ch-5 loop.  (Dc over same ch-5 loop) 9 times.  Sc over same ch-5 loop.*  Repeat * * until there is a total of 6 petals.  Note:  1 Rose flower made.  Do not break yarn.  Proceed to making the Tie Back on next instructions.  See Photo 3.

How To Make The Tie Back:

* Ch4.  Tr on 4th ch from hook.  Note: 1 chained loop made.  See Photo 4.  Withdraw hook from the loop.  Using the small crochet hook, pick up the bead.  See Photo 5.  Insert the small hook with the bead on it into the loop vacated by the big hook. Draw loop through the bead.  See photo 6.  Withdraw the small hook from the loop and replace it with the big hook.*  Repeat * * until there are 12 chained loops made. Note:  you can add more chained loops if longer tie back is desired.  Do not break yarn but continue on next instructions.

How To Make the Button:

Round 1:  After a loop is inserted on the last bead, ch6, slst on the 4th ch from hook to form a ring.  Ch2, (esc over ring) 11 times.  Slst on 2nd ch of the ch-2 made before the esc stiches to complete the round.

Round 2:  *Insert hook on back and front loop of next stitch.  Yo and draw up a loop through the
stitch.*  Repeat * * until there are 6 loops on hook.  Use a hair pin to hold the 6 loops by pushing it along side the hook.  Withdraw the hook when the loops are secured on the hairpin.  See photo 7.  Repeat * * until a loop is made on the last esc st.  Cut the yarn leaving a 12 " tail.  Thread this tail onto a yarn needle. Push the threaded needle through the loops on the hairpin and hook.  Pull the threaded needle out of the loops and tighten.  See Photo 8. Close the stitch by pushing needle from front to back of the work (see Photo 9).  Make a slip knot on any adjacent stitch twice.  push the needle back up to the front of the work and clip the yarn, leaving a half inch tail.  Pull the top of the button to hide the tail inside then shape it flat. The button is finished.  See Photo 10.  Finish the the rose:  Hide the beginning tail by threading the yarn onto the needle.  Working on the back side of the work, (see Photo 11), *push the needle through several "over ring" loops.  See Photo 11.   Pull yarn tight. Make a tight knot.*  See Photo 12.  Do * * twice.  Cut the yarn leaving half an inch tail.  Stretch the "over ring" loops to hide the tail inside.  See finished Curtain Tie back Photo 13 and 14.
