Crochet Terms, Abbreviations/Definitions

These are terms that will be used in most of the instructions.  Some of them are terms that are well established and well known and some terms that I came up with when developing new techniques in crochet.  It is my intention to show photos and or diagrams of each as time allows me.  This is a starting point and I will comeback to this post and update it as I find more terms or crochet techniques that need to be clarified.   I appreciate your questions or comments regarding this topic.  Thank you for stopping by!

Crochet Terms and Abbreviations:

Ch (ch) =Chain (chain)
Sc (sc) = Single Crochet
Dc (dc) = Double Crochet
Tc (tc) = Treble Crochet
Tog = Together
Clstr = Cluster
Slst = Slip Stitch
St = St
Yo = yarn over
Fl = Front loop
Bl = Back loop
Flbl = Front and back loop of a stitch or chain
Sb = Side bar
Sp = Space
Midch = Middle chain-- example: midchain of ch3 loop(or space) is the 2nd chain; midchain of ch5 loop
    or space is the 3rd chain etc.
Rt = Rotate
Work = refers to the crocheted piece being worked on.
UL = Under loop.  A loop that is found under the back loop of a stitch.  It can be seen on the wrong and right  side of  the crochet work.
Space = is also called loop.

Circle Motifs Connected Row by Row Without Breaking The Yarn

Circle Motif Tutorial - Part 1   NOTE:  PLEASE CLICK ON PHOTOS TO ENLARGE THEM.  Please refer to the diagram also.  (Diagram is currently being drawn). Crochet Project:  Bicolored Scarf With Circle Motifs Materials:  Yarn = Caron Simply Soft, Med. (4),  6 0z./170g/315 yds/288 m; 1 skein of each color (A) and color (B).  Please choose your favorite colors. Making The Connecting Loops

Circle Motif Tutorial - Part 2  (Please refer to Part - 1 to see the beginning of this tutorial).  Please click photos to enlarge.   Note:  Connecting loops are  stitches that connect the rows of motifs together.  In this project ch5, ch3, and dc2tog are used. Slst to next ch1.  *Ch5, skip (sk) next 2 dc post, sc next ch1.  Ch3, skip next 2 dc, sc next ch1.  Ch2, skip 2 dc, 2 dc-tog on next ch1 sp of 2 adjacent motifs ( See photo 23).
